Free Entitlement (FE)

Free Entitlement (FE) to Early Education for 3 to 5 year olds – formerly known as Nursery Education Grant (NEG)

What is the Free Entitlement (FE) grant?

FE was introduced by the government to provide a free early education place for all 3 to 5 year olds for up to 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. If you have a three or four year old child your child will be eligible for this.

How much is the FE grant?

The FE grant is paid directly to nurseries at an hourly rate and in return the nursery makes these hours free to parents. The rate at which FE is paid to nurseries is set by the local authority in which the nursery operates. The fees quoted by Peek a Boo include these free hours; you therefore do not have to take any action to qualify.

How is FE operated at Peek a Boo?

Parents are billed monthly and the fees for each month of the year are the same depending on your child’s particular attendance pattern. FE is therefore taken into account evenly throughout the year over the 38 weeks.

The FE hours are set at five hours per Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday therefore totalling 15 hours over the week.

Peek a Boo has to abide by the code of practice set down by HM Government in respect of the operation of FE and is not liable for any adverse financial impact to parents, arising from changes in the guidance or changes to the operation of or future potential withdrawal of FE by the government.
